Reading is a pathway to knowledge and a portal to imagined worlds full of humor, adventure, and possibility. This institute will help you lift the level of your reading instruction and create a new vision of the ways you can help students grow as word solvers, and as critical thinkers, observers, and readers of the world.

In this institute, you will learn to:

• Teach in potent, assessment-based ways using predictable structures that allow children to read with deep engagement.

• Curate texts and plan instruction so that all readers can learn the essential and research based skills of reading.

• Make your minilessons compelling and lively.

• Develop strategies to deliberately adjust your read-alouds so that children experience the power of the skills you are teaching and transfer them into their own independent reading. 

• Understand the most significant reading strategies and how those skills fit into progressions that develop over time.

• Build a toolkit of ready-to-go small groups to support a wide range of learners, and make sure that you have resources at your fingertips when you need them.
