This session focuses on helping you prepare to teach Grade 5 Unit 1, the first Unit of Study of the year. We’ll unpack each Bend of the Unit and dig into the work students will be doing as they build community, develop foundational habits of strong readers, and begin tackling texts with purpose and stamina. You’ll get a clear picture of the teaching points, small group progressions, and vocabulary work across the unit. We’ll model parts of minilessons and small groups, discuss how to use the new planning tools, and help you feel confident and excited to begin teaching this first unit.

*Pilot teachers will have digital access to Unit 1 and 2 by July 8, 2025. Physical units will ship by August 15, 2025.
