In this institute, you will learn to:

• Help your students to mine powerful mentor texts to lift the level of their writing, teaching them to analyze author’s craft and structure using book clubs, author studies, and cycles of writing informed by reading.

• Explore irresistible new books and short texts that will appeal to teen readers, and develop strategies for building a robust culture of reading .

• Study selected texts deeply, thinking about literary craft and narrative structures, about perspectives and themes.

• Explore ways that writing, talking, and thinking become vehicles to deepen comprehension and consider how literary essays can be a modality for sharing thinking about texts with others.

• Tackle the literary essay, thinking about how to make this genre of writing less formulaic and more meaningful.

• Investigate the power of AI as a source for engagement and instruction.

• Integrate grammar instruction into your writing workshop.
