This day will help you learn the most up-to-date information regarding your state test and The Reading & Project at Mossflower Test Prep Units. Our staff developers will review tasks of the test so that you feel completely confident and prepared to teach them and will help you effectively use our resources as you prepare your students for the various high-stakes ELA tests they will take this spring.
You can expect to learn about our approach to test prep and how it fits in with the authentic, meaningful literacy work you’ve led all year long. Instead of simply practicing for a test, we believe in real preparation–in teaching minilessons on the most high-priority standards and giving students strategies that they can use with confidence on the day of the exam. We also believe in the importance of helping students transfer their learning from each unit you’ve taught into the environment of the test.
You will hear about ways of studying your students’ data to decide where to start with test preparation, and you’ll learn about small groups we’ve developed that can help you reach a range of learners during test prep. The sheer volume of test information and preparation tips out there can feel overwhelming–but by the end of today you’ll feel confident and ready to make smart decisions about the skills your students need the most and how to address them.
Even if you have worked with our test prep units for years, you’ll still find the day helpful. You’ll hear our newest recommendations and insights, and you’ll learn about new resources and lessons we’ve developed for this year.
Across this day, expect to:
Learn about updates and changes to 2025 High-Stakes ELA Tests.
Become familiar with the RWP-M Test Prep Units and resources.
Hear tips and tricks for getting test prep materials organized, including practice passages.
Learn how to use the components of reading and writing workshop across your day to prepare for high stakes tests.
Receive help planning predictable small group work that allows you to meet the needs of all students.
The Reading & Writing Project at Mossflower Test Prep Units are available to schools that receive our Professional Development. Resources will be added to the Treasure Chest on Mossflower.com by 2/3/25.
