This workshop will help teachers streamline their planning by making the most of the built-in supports within the Units of Study in Reading. When educators are juggling full days of teaching and limited planning time, it’s essential to know where to find the tools that make preparation faster and more efficient. In this session, participants will learn how to leverage the curriculum’s teaching slides (for grades 3-5), online resources, Getting Ready sections, and other embedded supports so that planning for reading workshop can happen quickly.

This workshop is designed to help teachers make writing workshop planning faster, clearer, and more manageable by taking advantage of the many built-in supports in the Units of Study in Writing. The curriculum is designed so that teachers are not starting from scratch each day—and in this session, participants will learn how to use those supports intentionally to reduce planning time while maintaining high-quality instruction.

Many schools are navigating packed literacy blocks, and teachers often wonder how to protect time for authentic writing instruction without feeling overwhelmed by competing demands. This session will offer practical, classroom-tested strategies for keeping writing workshop alive and thriving alongside required reading curricula.

Created in partnership with Victoria Shanghai Academy, the Asia Network is a professional community connecting teachers, coaches, and school leaders across the region who are committed to workshop teaching.

The network offers a space for intellectual companionship — a place where educators exploring or deepening workshop teaching can study practice, share questions, and grow ideas together.

The group meets virtually once a month. It's free to join, and all educators in Asia are welcome.

This series of Literacy Leadership workshops is designed for literacy leaders from across Long Island to gather to build a shared vision for powerful, equitable reading, writing, and phonics instruction. Led by The Reading & Writing Project at Mossflower, each session will blend big-picture thinking with the kinds of nitty-gritty practical tools that you can bring back to your schools right away. Together, we'll study research, analyze student work, rehearse coaching moves, and plan for meaningful professional learning experiences in your districts.

Join The Reading & Writing Project at Mossflower, The Village School, and The Fay School for a two-day collaborative symposium dedicated to bringing the richest possible literacy instruction to Texas learners. Across two days, educators will visit classrooms, engage with cutting-edge ideas about literacy instruction, and collaborate with Lucy Calkins and fellow educators to explore how the research-based, classroom-tested Units of Study can support students across Texas.

This session will focus on high-impact grammar practices that are embedded within authentic writing experiences and designed to support transfer into students’ everyday writing.

On Saturday, October 17th we’ll gather as a community of educators—teachers, coaches, leaders—all bound together by a shared belief: that teaching is an art and a calling, and that literacy has the power to change lives.

Participants will have the opportunity to choose from around 100 free, interactive workshops led by experienced educators and staff developers deeply grounded in classroom practice. Sessions will span grades Pre-K through high school and explore timely, practical topics designed to support teachers and leaders in their day-to-day work with students.

You’ll leave with:

• Practical strategies to support readers and writers at every grade level

• New perspectives to strengthen coaching and leadership work

• A renewed sense of purpose, possibility, and professional community

This two-day institute is focused on strengthening coaching practice around the teaching of writing.
