2024 Summer Institutes Overview
We are so excited to collaborate and learn with educators across the globe both virtually and in-person at our Summer Insitutes in June, July, and August! Below are some details about each of our 5 Summer Institutes, which have also been explained in our Summer Institute video above.
Let’s talk about our in-person institute first.
The Reading & Writing Project at Mossflower is hosting the New Frontiers in Reading and Writing Institute at our publisher Heinemann’s headquarters in Portsmouth, New Hampshire from Monday July 15 through Thursday July 18.
This institute is designed for teachers, literacy coaches, and leaders who are eager to learn and be part of a community of practice. This week will bring together keynote speakers, our partner organization, Heinemann, and of course The Reading & Writing Project at Mossflower team, as we grow our thinking together.
Each day will open with a keynote, followed by small-group morning and afternoon sections on self-selected topics. Days will end with participant-led think tanks. Topics include embracing possibilities in the classroom with AI, ways to strengthen comprehension and build vocabulary, weaving a lively grammar curriculum into your writing workshop, tapping the power of decodable texts, screeners- what are they and how do we use them effectively?, and many more. The session offerings we have on our website will be modified based upon the interests and the needs of your school or district.
We’re excited about this Institute because it’s located in Portsmouth, NH - a picturesque coastal New England town! And we also have after-hours events planned, including a sunset harbor cruise, an evening with food trucks and live music and of course you’ll be able to enjoy a few lobster rolls! The event page holds a comprehensive Portsmouth travel guide our team curated to help you make the most of your time in New Hampshire with us. From historical sites, to outdoor activities, to restaurants, bars, and coffee shops, we have your covered. The event page also links the Summer Institute scholarship application so we encourage you and your teams to apply.
Next, let’s talk about our virtual summer offerings.
